Songwriter's Corner: Jean Winer Pascal

I know this is like asking a parent to choose a favorite child, but, can you tell us about the favorite song you have written?
A child that is given to you is very precious. A child is a miracle, a blessing. I had witnessed my wife Gilberte giving birth to my son Rayven and my daughter Robyn and I can tell you my friend, life could not have been some kind of accidental event out of uncalculated circumstances. That is why I retrained myself not to call my children "Kids". Kids are offsprings of goats not human's offspring. Every single time you call your child "Your kid" you are actually placing a curse on that said child. Do not take my word for it, please check this out.

Words are special, they worth more than gold, words have meanings and there is a reason for that.

Now, you can imagine how difficult it is to answer that question. I like all the songs, but, I particularly like "Detripay" because the song is an omen, a big warning to the Haitian society. There is a Haitian proverb that says "Wété trip mété pay" your children are from your guts with a touch of God. Now, if you are gutted, you are stripped of the most precious gift that there is. What you have left, is a dead future. The future has not happened yet, but, it starts from the past and now is just a transitional moment. You can't expect somebody else to raise your children for you. They don't know your culture, they don't understand your gifts and blessings. You can't wait on somebody else to feed your children for you, they don't know how you cook, they'll feed them food made of plastic. You just can't let somebody else plant their seeds in your garden, they'll plant a seed of deception. Love is a very heavy load. If you love Haiti, you have to speak up, I know that "Ekoloji" dealt with environmental issues, but the biggest erosion is from inside of my people's heads. Here is the picture, let's do something about it. Rosny Ladouceur from "Le Nouvelliste" wrote an article back in May 2014 and he understands the message in "Detripay"

What new projects are you working on?
I am working on a book that would gather all my pieces from French, Creole and English together. There are a lot of pieces that are not known to my brothers and sisters that I would like to share with them. There is a guy that posts a lot of stuff on Youtube, he calls himself "Lésprilib1" he appreciates the work I do and I would like for him to read more of those pieces.

I am working on opening my EYE so I can see beyond the veil. It is my biggest project.
