By accessing or using Wikimizik (“the Site”, “we”, “us”, “our”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use the Site.

We may update these terms at any time. Continued use of Wikimizik after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised terms. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page reflects when the most recent changes were made.

Wikimizik is a community-driven archive of Haitian music — a platform where registered users can submit song lyrics, line-by-line annotations, translations, and comments to document and preserve Haitian musical culture.

The content on the Site is contributed by the community and is intended for cultural education and appreciation. We do not claim ownership of song lyrics and aim to operate within the bounds of fair use for educational purposes.

To contribute to Wikimizik, you must create an account. You agree to:

• Provide accurate information when registering.
• Keep your login credentials confidential.
• Be responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.
• Notify us immediately if you believe your account has been compromised.

You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. By registering, you confirm that you meet this age requirement.

When you submit content to Wikimizik — including song lyrics, annotations, translations, and comments — you grant Wikimizik a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide license to display, reproduce, and distribute that content as part of the Site.

By submitting content, you represent that:

• You have the right to share the content and that it does not infringe on any third party's intellectual property rights.
• The content is accurate to the best of your knowledge.
• The content does not contain personal information about other individuals without their consent.

We reserve the right to remove or edit any content that violates these terms or that we determine, at our sole discretion, is inappropriate for the platform.

You agree not to:

• Submit false, misleading, or intentionally incorrect content.
• Harass, threaten, or abuse other users in comments or contributions.
• Use the Site to distribute spam, advertisements, or promotional material without our consent.
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any portion of the Site or its underlying systems.
• Scrape, crawl, or systematically extract data from the Site without prior written permission.
• Use the Site in any way that violates applicable laws or regulations.
• Create multiple accounts to manipulate the leaderboard, point system, or any community feature.

The Wikimizik name, logo, and original platform code are the property of Wikimizik and may not be reproduced without permission.

Song lyrics submitted to the Site remain the property of their respective rights holders (songwriters, publishers, or record labels). Wikimizik displays lyrics for cultural education and archival purposes. If you are a rights holder and believe content on the Site infringes your copyright, please contact us via our contact page and we will promptly review and address your request.

Wikimizik operates a contributor point system that awards points and badges for adding songs, writing line annotations, and leaving comments. Points and badges are cosmetic recognition only — they have no monetary value and cannot be exchanged, transferred, or redeemed for any goods or services.

We reserve the right to adjust, reset, or remove points and badges at any time, including in cases of abuse or violation of these terms.

The Site may display advertisements served by Google AdSense, embed media players from YouTube, SoundCloud, or Spotify, and store artist images via Cloudinary. These services are governed by their own terms of use and privacy policies. Wikimizik is not responsible for the content or practices of third-party services.

Wikimizik is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not guarantee that:

• The Site will be available at all times without interruption.
• All content on the Site is accurate, complete, or up to date.
• The Site is free from errors, viruses, or other harmful components.

User-contributed content reflects the views of the individual contributors and not those of Wikimizik.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Wikimizik and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of — or inability to use — the Site, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.

We reserve the right to suspend or permanently terminate your account at any time, with or without notice, if we determine that you have violated these terms or are using the Site in a way that is harmful to the community or to the platform.

You may delete your account at any time by contacting us. Upon deletion, your personal information will be removed in accordance with our Privacy Policy. Contributions you made may remain on the platform in anonymised form.

These Terms of Use are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Florida, United States, without regard to its conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising under these terms shall be resolved in the courts located in Florida.
