Tout sans mwen a fleur de peau
(It's been a long time coming y'all)

[MikaBen]
Depi'l pase devan m li fè tèt mwen vire
Li brase tout andan m, m'bliye ki lè li ye
Depi'l pase devan m, m'wè la vi a pi bèl
Sou chak pewon li fè m, li fè m wè bouke flè
Oh oh ou fè ou fè – tèt mwen pati
Oh oh ou fè ou fè – m' anvi kouri

[Alan Cavé]
Depi w pase devan'm ou fè lannwit lan chanje
Lalin nan vin pi pre mwen wè la Voie Lactée
Depi w pase devan m konpa m debousole
Depi w pase devan m ou fè'm rele

“C'mon Alan talk to them”

[Alan Cavé]
Si m gen pou m kouri se dèyè w map kouri
Si m gen pou m chante se pou ou map chante
Si m gen pou m mouri se nan pye w map mouri
Oh oh ou fè ou fè – tèt mwen pati
Oh oh ou fè ou fè – m' anvi kouri

Tankou yon vag lanmè m anvi bote l
Tankou yon vag lanmè map vin chèche'w
Kite'm mennen w ale
Manvi mennen l ale
Let's go

BIOGRAPHY
  • Georges Alan Cavé born in New York in 1966. In 1987, he met with Alex Abellard and Eddy Saint-Vil to audition, and Cavé was quickly signed for the group Zin. Alan Cavé is a prolific songwriter, with a catalogue of songs and unreleased recordings in English, French, and Haitian Creole. He said he would prefer to be remembered as writer and composer, as it takes not just talent, but passion, aspiration, discipline and hard work to write songs and release an album. Cavé has performed and collaborated with other well-known performers in zouk, kompa, French and Caribbean music such asMalavoi, Mario DeVolcy, Tanya Saint-Val, Haddy N'jie, Roy Shirley, and Les ténors du Zouk. In 2001 he launched his first solo album, Se Pa Pou Dat, which was an enormous success. This album seems to transcend barriers of language and cultural sound, with its melodies popular in Japan, Africa and South America, even though listeners may not understand the words. Five Diaspora Winter Anthems

A few weeks ago, all 50 states reached freezing temperatures. The Polar vortex may be gone, but most of us still can't feel our toes. Since humans can't hibernate, staying in and hunkering down is only a temporary fix. Plus, we have to brave the cold to pay those bills. Good thing, we have music to warm our souls. Quite a few Haitian artists have migrated to the States, Canada, and Europe. They've all experienced the winter blues and expressed their lingering homesickness in song. Here are a few of our favorites. They're a potent cocktail of frustration and nostalgia. We'd cry,...

Discover Talie's Debut EP 16 Novembre

Since Nathalie Cerin released her first two studio singles, Ti Nèg Chèlbè and Bèl Tifi, we've been waiting for a complete project from her. It's finally here, and it's a live EP she recorded on her birthday. On 16 Novembre, we find a more seasoned artist, with a firmer grasp on the world. Gone is the bubbly sweetness of her earlier material. The patina of life - wilted relationships, career shifts, last-minute apartment hunts - has molded her...

    Underground Spotlight: VOGGE

You may not know them yet, but VOGGE is in vogue. Ocho and Ostinato spoke to us about the duo's distinct sound and global aspirations. Get to know them and get ready to shoki on the dance floor. 1. Introduce us to VOGGE. How did the collaboration come about? OCHO: The Collaboration came around in 2014. From Hi To I Do

We started Wikimizik because we're passionate about Haitian music and believe our language makes for beautiful storytelling. That's why we're telling a love story through song with "From Hi To I Do." Starting today and ending on Valentine's Day, we'll follow a relationship from the initial encounter to the altar. Everyday we'll share a song or more taking us through the stages of the relationship. There'll be songs that make you smile, and others that may leave you feeling...

Rapping our History From Dessalines to Martelly

Tomorrow, we celebrate the Haitian flag's 211th anniversary. We have a lot to be proud of. And a lot to think about. Many songs fit the occasion. Would we feature a nostalgic ode like Jacques Sauveur Jean's Ayiti Cheri and MikaBen's Ayiti Se? Or poignant reality checks like BelO's Detripay? Kumbaya...

    Albums We're Waiting For

Though there's a couple of albums from last year we still can't get enough of, that doesn't mean we can't look forward to a great lineup in 2016. Here are some of the albums that we can't wait for this year. 1. Carimi Their last album, Invasion, has yet to come out the 5-disc changer in most people's cars. The live album, "Kite M Cho" made us fall in love with the tracks even more. With Michael's return to the band after a month-long vacation/mini retirement, we're sure...
